Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 24, 2026
Capito (“Capito”, “we”, “us”) turns audio you record into transcripts, study notes, and flashcards. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to everyone who uses Capito, wherever you are in the world.
Capito is operated by an independent developer based in India. For any privacy question or request, contact us at contact@vitthalgoel.com.
What we collect
- Account information. Your email address and, if you provide it, your name. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile picture from Google.
- Audio you record. The audio captured while you use Capito, held only long enough to transcribe it (see “How long we keep your data”).
- Transcripts and derived content. The text transcript of your audio and the AI-generated title, notes, and flashcards produced from it, along with any notes you type or edits you make yourself.
- Your class schedule. If you use auto-recording, the timetable you set up so Capito knows when to record.
- Billing information. If you buy credits, our payment processor (Razorpay) handles your card or payment details, we never see or store them. We keep a record of your purchases, credit balance, and payment references.
- Acceptance record. The date and version of the Terms and this policy you accepted, stored on your account.
How we use your data
- To transcribe your audio and generate notes and flashcards from it.
- To store your transcripts, notes, and folders so you can come back to them.
- To operate auto-recording against the schedule you set.
- To process payments, apply credits, and prevent abuse of the service.
- To respond to your support and privacy requests.
We do not sell your data, we do not use your recordings or notes for advertising, and we do not use your content to train our own models.
How long we keep your data
- Audio is deleted automatically. The moment a recording’s transcript is ready, the underlying audio is permanently deleted from our storage. We do not keep your audio after transcription. If transcription fails, the audio is kept only so you can retry, and is removed when you delete the recording.
- Transcripts and notes are kept until you delete the recording or your account. Deleting a recording permanently removes its transcript, notes, and flashcards.
- Account and billing records are kept while your account is active and for as long as needed to meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations.
Who we share it with
Your recordings and notes are private to your account and protected by row-level security, no other user can see them, and nothing you record is made public. We share data only with the service providers that make Capito work:
- Supabase hosts our database, file storage, and authentication.
- OpenAI receives your audio (to transcribe it) and the resulting transcript (to generate notes and flashcards). OpenAI processes this under its API terms and does not use data sent through its API to train its models.
- Razorpay processes payments if you buy credits.
We may also disclose data if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the service.
International transfers
Capito relies on the providers above, which may process and store data on servers outside your country, including in the United States. By using Capito you understand that your data may be transferred to and processed in countries whose data-protection laws differ from those where you live. We only use reputable providers that offer appropriate safeguards for this data.
Your rights and choices
Wherever you live, you can:
- Access and export. View your transcripts and notes in the app at any time, or email us for a copy of your data.
- Correct. Edit your notes and account name directly in the app.
- Delete. Delete any recording from the dashboard, this permanently removes its transcript, notes, and flashcards. You can delete your entire account and all associated data from your profile, or by emailing us.
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in Europe or similar laws elsewhere), you may also have the right to object to or restrict certain processing, to data portability, and to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority. To exercise any of these rights, email contact@vitthalgoel.com.
Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and access to your content is restricted to your own account. No online service can promise perfect security, but we work to protect your data and to keep only what we need for as long as we need it.
Children
Capito is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service evolves. Material changes will be posted here with a new “Last updated” date, and we will ask you to accept the updated policy the next time you use Capito.
